Camley Street
CONNECTING CAMLEY STREET
The Camden Council commissioned Rochester Square to run a series of public engagement sessions and create 2 rounds of temporary artwork for ten billboards in the Camley Street Underpass. The underpass "gallery" scheme is ongoing. It was set up as a part of the Camley Street redevelopment project and was initially introduced during the London Festival of Architecture 2022 event held on-site.
During the 6 months Rochester Square worked on this commission we facilitated clay workshops and events for community centre’s youth clubs, Local Primary School - Kings Cross Academy, Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children, Community Recovery Centre for Older People and the members of the public.
The second round of the billboards called ‘Future in clay’ was based on the 2 clay workshops with the kids from Maiden Lane Community Centre ran by Rochester Square artist. The artwork features ‘night and day’ vision of the future of the area filled with mythical clay creatures and illustrations.
