“From the Earth to the Pot” at the Camden Art Centre
Mockingbird Foster Network with Rochester Square
Through summer and autumn 2022, Ewelina Bartkowska and Ella Cairns from Rochester Square have been collaborating with families from Mockingbird Foster Network to explore nature and ceramics, while sharing food and conversations together. The project participants explored Camden Art Centre’s garden and its ecology. Spending time outside amongst the garden’s flora and fauna, to take inspiration from shapes and textures in nature to create our own set of functional ceramic tableware.
During clay sessions the group worked together in Camden’s ceramics studio to learn hand building and decorative techniques to make tableware and ceramic creations. The sessions culminated in a celebration, making food together and sharing a communal meal using our handmade ceramic tableware.
