We collaborate with Schools and Universities in London and beyond to encourage students of all ages to learn and work with clay by organising educational workshops.
Hawley Primary School, 2020
On February 2020 RS organised 4 days of workshops with pupils from Year 1 to 6 from Hawley Primary School. Each workshop consisted on making different utensils as props, stools and planters. The result of these project will be installed at the School facilities.
Art Week with Kings Cross Academy, 2019
On March 2019 we organised 3 days of art workshops with pupils aged 5 to 8 years old from Kings Cross Academy. The week was divided into three different subjects; Celebration of music, where they learnt how to make musical instruments; Food for pots, making very large communal pots using coil method and press moulding, then attaching clay fruits and vegetable onto them; and People from the world, making plates in moulds and decorating by pressing black and white clay making faces from around the world.
Transformative Materials by Laura White, 2019
One Day workshop for students from Goldsmiths College Fine Art Undergraduate Programme, lead by Laura White in collaboration with Nina Wright. Exploring the transformative qualities of clay through process and discussion - throwing, hand-building and slip casting. Groups of students worked intuitively to discover the different types, properties and stages of clay, culminating in a collaborative work that was explored through its destruction.
After-school Club with STORE STORE, 2019
Store Store organised a 3-week course with which students were taught how to use intuitive VR drawing software, such as Gravity Sketch or Google Tilt Brush, in order to create digital objects that were also 3D printed and transferred into ceramics using slip casting techniques. The students digital designs were reproduced using plaster moulds using Rochester Square facilities, allowing for a series of porcelain ceramics.
Workshops for Kings Cross Academy, 2017
In September and October of 2017, we organised workshops for King's Cross Academy. Pupils from Year 2 were making large coil pots and decorating them with slip.
The Bartlett School of Architecture UCL, 2017
From 21st to 31st of July 2017, our former technician and artist Nam Tram, ran a mould making and slip casting workshop for the students of The Bartlett School of Achitecture UCL.
Holy Trinity & St Silas School, 2017
In April 2017, we organised a workshop for the Year 5 pupils from Holy Trinity and St Silas School. They had a great experience throwing with our teacher Nam Tran and making Roman brick bridges with terracotta clay.
